In STABILA spirit levels, the vial, the vial locking support and the measuring surfaces of the profile are aligned precisely with each other during the production process and permanently bonded using a synthetic resin. Only in this way

STABILA vials

The vial locking is made of high-quality acrylic glass, unbreakable and easy to clean. The surfaces of the outer sides should be as smooth as possible to avoid light refraction when reading the vial. The inner walls of the vial are precisely ground and the reading rings are inserted flush without corrosion: this ensures that the vial bubble can move freely without obstacles and guarantees maximum precision.

Anti-static factor: in STABILA vials, it is safely prevented that electrostatic charges or other mechanical loads

affect the movement of the vial.

UV protection: the fluorescent liquid in the vial has high resistance to UV rays. This prevents the liquid from losing its colour. The colour contrast ensures good readability in all lighting conditions.

Excellent readability

STABILA spirit levels are highly resistant to temperature fluctuations.

The bubble size and the distance of the rings are designed so that easy readability remains unchanged even at very high or very low temperatures.

This ensures an exact reading from -20 °C to +50 °C. The bubble size always remains within the reading rings: from (a) at -20 °C up to (b) at +50 °C.

The different types of vials

STABILA offers spirit levels with different types of vials and combinations of vials. This way, every user will find the spirit level best suited to make their work easier.

Horizontal vial – for horizontal measurements.

Measurement in normal position. The horizontal vial points upward. The bubble is located on the top of the vial.

Measurement in inverted position. The spirit level has been turned – the horizontal bubble now points downward. The vial bubble has also been turned and is now located on the other side wall of the vial.

Vertical vial – for vertical measurements.

Rotating angle vial – for determining a variable angle of inclination.

Fixed 45° angle vial – for determining a fixed angle of inclination.

Six-ring vial – for quickly measuring differences in level.

Measuring positions

The measuring position describes the position of the spirit level during measurement.

Measurement in normal position

The horizontal vial points upward. The bubble is located on the top of the vial.

Measurement in inverted position

The spirit level has been turned – the horizontal bubble points downward. The vial bubble has also been turned and is now located

on the other side wall of the vial.

Measuring surfaces

In most cases, the entire body of the spirit level, including the measuring surface, is powder-coated. However, there are also spirit levels in which, after the surface coating, the measuring surface is milled flat in an additional working step. In any case, it is important that the surface is absolutely

flat. Depending on the model, a spirit level has one or two measuring surfaces. The additional measuring surface expands the range of applications.

Side caps

To securely protect the measuring surfaces, impact-resistant plastic side caps are permanently used. To ensure good impact absorption, the protruding height relative to the hollow profile of the spirit level must be sufficient. STABILA also offers side caps with practical additional functions.
